PRIVATE GUIDING in the Brecon Beacons & beyond.

Want to do something special?

We specialise in guided walks and navigation coursesWhy not take the opportunity to explore the mountains of Wales in the company of an experienced and enthusiastic professional walking guide? You can even choose themed walking - food walks, photography walks, and Tolkien walks are popular examples.

Kevin Walker is a mountain addict who has been tramping the Welsh hills for over 30 years. Well known in the outdoor business, he is the author of many books including Mountain Navigation Techniques (widely regarded as a standard work), Learn Rock Climbing in a Weekend (published worldwide), and The Essential Hillwalkers Guide. His most recent books include Navigation: Finding Your Way on Mountain & Moorland, and Undiscovered Wales, a walking guide with attitude. He also writes and publishes local guide books and route cards under the banner of Heritage Guides.

Your choice - or Kevin's?

With private guiding, you have total flexibility. You can choose the route yourself, or you can let Kevin choose one for you. There may be a specific walk you have always wanted to do, or a specific area you have always wanted to visit. Alternatively, you may just want to get out and have a great day's walking in a convenient place and at a convenient time. Private guiding offers you the opportunity to achieve these ambitions in the company of an experienced professional.

How much will all this cost?

Less than you might think! Whilst the precise cost will vary depending upon the route, the location, and the duration, a good guide price is around £120.00 per day for a group of up to four people. Kevin will quote you a precise figure, without obligation, before you make a firm booking.

We specialise in guided walks and navigation coursesWhat about accommodation?

We have contacts in most mountain areas in Wales (and, indeed, further afield), and are happy to advise on the wide range of accommodation options available - from luxury hotels to budget bunkhouses.

What will I need to bring?

That largely depends on the time of year and the walk chosen, but sturdy footwear and a reasonable set of waterproofs are a must, as is a small rucksack in which to carry a packed lunch and something (non-alcoholic!) to drink. Kevin will advise you on clothing, footwear and kit when you book, and all items are available for hire at nominal rate if required.
